The strength of your army determines which fights you can perform in the "Action" page (except for the Raid where it really doesn't matter). The outcome of a Raid/Dungeon is, to my observations, pretty much the same no matter how strong the army is. Sometimes you get more gold and less items, sometimes the other way around.
I think we would need Uiqua in here to better explain the inner workings of the game.

Hi everyone,

to shed light on the matter:

On higher dungeons the dropchance for better goods / weapons is percental higher than on lower dungeons. But that doesn't mean that you get the better drops for sure!

In my experience you get more items from raids and more total gold from dungeons.
However you also need to heal your mech when you get back from a dungeon and almost never after a raid. At 1300 gold this is something to consider as well.

Now I seem to have to heal and refill my Mech 7 out of 10 raids... Interesting...
