Fortress fights

Postby Zarathos » Sun 22. Nov 2015, 18:24

Hello! I was wondering:
What is the mechanic behind the fortress fights? Right now it seems almost random. I've lost 15 fights in a row vs. easy opponents, having 4 well-geared a-army units and a lvl 6 castle. Some of the opponents had lvl 1 castle, 49k points and negative honour, yet somehow I managed to lose to those players, although I'm pretty sure they don't even have more than 1-2 a-army units. My a-army is always at max morale and health. How is that possible? Although, I've had opposite situations, when I managed to win lvl 7 castles of players with 10kk+ points. Right now it feels almost random. Is it possible to receive any info on the mechanics?

Hello there,

Be aware that the honour of a player is mostly linked to his primary army (the one you can partly see on their profile) and not to the secondary army - which is the one used to win fortress fights. Players can full well have a sh*t primary army but a beastly secondary one, don't be trapped.

Hope I've helped my deal here.

Thanks! Although I really doubt that players with level 1 fortress and 48k total points would have a major a-army, bigger than mine for sure...

Could be. But that unfortunate spree was really astonishing. I remember when I had just 1 a-unit, I had 1 victory in about 6-7 fights. But it totally paid off, since healing took a little amount of gold. Now I have 4 units (2 of which are Vanir princesses) and even though I win slightly more often, the expenses are greater than before. Feels very odd. Not sure if I should continue growing my a-army at all. Time will show, I guess.

If you don't want to do the work of moving your best Equipment from your regular Army to your Assassin Army, you won't have the strongest Assassin Army you can have. ( I move equipment from my Guild Army to my Regular Army sometimes when I attack and move it back after the Raid has begun. The outcome is determined by your total points when you attack. Moving stuff back and forth is a bother, but it pays off. I am manufacturing Elf Helms and Ent Axes, those will help, too. )

It is relatively cheap to add Advanced Training to your Assassin Army, Total Points is still very important.

You need to make the Assassin Army as strong as you can to do well in Battles, though the size of the Fortress you are attacking and the number of Traps the owner has will also help determine the outcome.

I do believe there is an advantage for the Fortress Owner.

Sometimes I can't tell why I won or lost a Fortress Battle, no matter whether I am attacking or receiving an attack.

This is from the online help, Battles were complicated, the Fortress Battles are even more complicated.

Send your forces (mech + army) against opposing armies in the arena to receive gold and honor points. Those honor points provide access to the elite merchant, who has exclusive weapons and equipment for your units (More on this under Equipment Army).

Each battle costs 10 ferocity points. The maximum number of ferocity points per day is 100, so your army can enter into up to 10 arena battles each day. If you want to engage in more battles on any given day, you can refill your army's ferocity level using souls.

To keep the battles balanced, only opponents with the same level of honor points are shown.

The battle mechanism works with 3 different scenarios, each applying different weightings to attack strength (ATK), defense strength (DEF) and hit points (HP). You cannot influence which scenario is used.

This stuff is in the Upgrade section:

Assassination army

After you have repaired your fortress, you will find traps in the details of the fortress in addition to the army of assassins which is accessible under „army → Assassination army“. There are 5 different units in total that have to be researched under „research → army“ in order to be trained. Each of these units has a special bonus which has influence on the raids of the army of assassins. Therefore you have to choose wisely for a balance between vigor and additional/ increased loot. All units of the new army can be equipped with regular equipment and be trained til level 3. The higher the level of the unit, the greater is the correspondent bonus. The maximum number of units in the army of assassins is 30. However this number can only be achieved, if you have upgraded your fortress to the maximum.

Traps

To fend off opposing attacks against your fortress, you have the possibility to set up traps in your fortress. If an enemy activates a trap, the attack ends automatically and you have fended off the attack successfully. Every opposing attack consumes one active trap. Traps can be produced in the new building “defense's engineer” or bought at the market. Via clicking a trap you can activate (green frame) it under “fortress → details of fortress” or deactivate (red frame) it.

Fortress fight

Under “fight → raid fortresses” you can send your army of assassins on a mission. Three different degrees of difficulty are available. Choosing “easy” you will attack an enemy with a little fortress and you will have a small chance of finding elementals. Choosing “middle” you will attack a midsize fortress and you will have the chance of 2 elemental drops. Choosing “difficult” you will attack a big fortress and you will have a chance of 3 elemental drops. Every player can only be attacked once every 24 hours by a certain player. A fight takes 20 minutes. Is the fight a succes you will receive a reward consisting of gold, points, honor, blueprints and maybe elementals. Blueprints are needed by the defence's engineer and the legendary smith.

Thanks for the info. It would be nice to see a table of total points/chance ratio for every difficulty. Right now I can only tell that 5k points grants you the 75% chance of victory on Easy difficulty. With 6k+ points it's about 90%.

I wonder how many points you need to have a 75% chance to win on Medium/Hard? Or is it more about traps on those difficulties? Then I wonder if I should train more Seraphims instead of Vanir Princesses? Anyhow, right now I'm okay with Vanir Princesses and my Easy difficulty results. Might try to do some Medium fights one day.

BTW, what is the total trap chance with a level 20 fortress? And what is the max trap deflection chance a Seraphim can have with max advanced training?

Fortress Level: 20 (12,500 ATK, 55,000 DEF)

I did some calculations, you will not have enough points on your Assassin Army to win.

The other Assassins are to get stuff, only the Seraphim will help you evade Traps. I should have made every member of my Assassin Army a Seraphim. That is how you get the best chance of success, an army of Seraphim maxed out on Advanced Training with the Best Equipment you can give them.

I would guess you need more than 67,000 Total Points to win against the Level 20 Fortress. The quest is to avoid the traps and not battle, if you battle you lose.

Fortress Attack and Defense is here.

I don't know the odds of winning for any attack.

I do know you will do better if you have all the traps you can have if it is your Fortress being attacked.

If you want to attack Medium and High Fortresss, give your guys Advanced Training and have Seraphim to deactivate Traps, the more Seraphim the Better. The other Assassins are to get stuff, only the Seraphim will help you evade Traps. They need to have the Advanced Training before your other Assassin guys. All your Assassins need the Best Gear you can give them if you are going against Medium or High Level Fortresses.

As with every Battle and Quest in the Game, there is a random factor built in which can save you or destroy you.

I don't think that the fortress stats matter at all. I have 7k+ a-army points and I'm still sometimes losing to players with level 1 fortresses and 50k total points (just total points, not a-army points, they're level 1). It's pure random. And I believe that it's just traps and your total a-army points that determine the chance of success. So yeah, Seraphims and equipment for medium and hard, but for now I'll try to stick to Vanir princesses and easy fights. I guess it's okay as long as I'm winning more gold than losing :P
