Epic units need rebalancing

I'm thinking lots of epics need serious att/def/health rebalancing. For example, can ANYONE explain to me how a player with an army of 60 units, more than half of which are top tier(TotS/Raleshil) LOSES an arena fight to a player without an army expansion upgrade - thats 50 units and NOT A SINGLE ONE of them is top tier. The answer is quite simple - epic units made so powerful, they upset the entire game balance. And it sux - after all the work and effort most of us put in sacrifices to the oracle, productions and upgrades, researching and training the best available army units... it's REALLY demoralizing that a few unbalanced epics turn the tide in favor of players at an inferior level of development!!! Stats for the maritimers epics are way too high, not to mention they can be won not once or twice but THREE times... IF you're lucky. Some of us aren't lucky - in about 100 attempts I've only won a haruspex epic and a few minor objects. So I don't even try anymore.

The equipment makes the big difference as well so ask the person what he uses on his units maybe he just uses stuff a lot better than you do?

doubtful, unless ALL his/her units use maritimers won equipment and that would bring us right back where we started, wouldn't it? ;)

I think Ares's point is that when sheer luck can so easily overbalance hard work, it's extremely frustrating. Since there is currently no way to get the Maritimers' epic units through hard work, someone who happens to be the lucky person has an advantage in gaining items and units that simply cannot be earned.

Whether or not the player Ares was referring to had better weapons isn't really applicable IMO because we can look directly at the stats of a Magmawing and compare it to the top units available through hard work. A Magmawing's stats add up to 2150. A ToS or Raleshil's stats add up to 750. That means that one Magmawing is worth roughly three of the top units available through time, training, money, and sheer effort.

I'm not saying Ares necessarily lost because of an epic unit or two. His opponent may have had better weapons than anticipated or may have invested in advanced training for lower units. I am saying, though, that for whatever reason he brought the issue up, it might be worth looking at from a balance perspective.

I shall now go hide from all the Magmawing owners.

There will never be a rebalance of current existing ones i guess cause the people already spent their gold and souls to get something that has 2000+ total stats and after a period of time making those epics have half of that power will make the players that invested their money and work really angry.

I see a plus that next maritimers updates will give us only 1 epic unit availeble instead of 3 as it was until now and the fact that during tickets events you can get some epics from ex maritimers.

I agree with you that some epic units are really powerful but imagine the frustration of people that invested in geting those if the numbers were changed.

Okay. But what if they were available in some manner other than simply through Maritimers? Keep the limit of three total per player, but make it possible to earn them in some way? Even if it takes a god awful long time so that people prefer to try Maritimers?

Having them only available through luck AND having them be unbalanced is just... meh. Apparently it defies description in my mind. :P

(I'd also argue that getting things through Maritimers isn't investing money and work. It's investing souls, which could possibly be from dungeons, which might involve gold and work... or it could simply involve people buying them.)
