Train army achievement?

Ok, this is another question I am hoping the veterans can help me with.
One of the achievements is to train your army troops, to a maximum of 500 troops. Yikes, since your army can only hold 50 to start. So my question is, does it count as training troops for the purpose of the achievement when you upgrade your troop types from basic to rank 2 and then rank 2 to rank 3?
For example, defender to defender II under advanced training. Otherwise I do not see how you can get all 500 troops trained. I know you can dismiss them as lower levels and retrain the serfs. I am curious if the advanced training option also counts towards the achievement goal? Since apparently they never die. :)

WOW.... I see that the Oracle will let you expand your army by 10.. but that is expensive... ANd I can only imagine that the "next" of that series would even be more...

I looked ans it says I have trained 21. I have 24 in my army - hmmmmmm.. i did upgrade a couple of folks...
INteresting.

At any time you can dismiss any of your troops and train a new / better one. This counts towards training a new unit in the achievement part. I am not sure whether upgrading a unit also counts or not. What I know for sure is that training a unit for your guild army does not count toward this achievement. The dismissal of a unit results in you getting back the equipment of that unit and the serf but you lose the gold invested in training that unit.
As for the Oracle, yes you can expand your army by a maximum of 10 units. Once you have done it, the upgrade is permanent and you can not use it multiple times (unless future updates change that).

It says that because when you started the game you were given 3 units. So you actually trained the rest up to 24 by yourself.

Save giving any of your army Advanced Training till you have at least Occultists.

Probably you shouldn't give any units less than Occultist any Advanced training. Unless you give it to Orcs.

So far I just have four Preservers, two Assassins, and two Occultist that I am going to keep forever, well I don't really have the Occultists yet, they are in training.

(I like for my Preservers to have really nice bows and give them Advanced Training twice, don't tell anyone I do that it is a secret. Well all of them haven't had Advanced Training twice, but I am working on it.)

Gladiators and Battlemages should be in your final Army.,

Later add one Forest druid and one Commandant.

Eventually I hope to get one or two Archangels.

Best of luck. Live long and prosper.

Hello everybody!

Well, upgrading a unit doesn't count to the achievement. But achievements are a long-term project. So this will take a while...

I'm sure you won't notice this because there will be more units from patch to patch to recruit :-) Also there will be other changes into the game - e.g. in the achievement section ;-)

Have a nice day!

You can dismiss your lowest level unit.

Train a new lowest level unit.

You can dismiss your lowest level unit.

Train a new lowest level unit.

You can dismiss your lowest level unit.

Train a new lowest level unit.

Get the Idea, training an new low level unit counts toward the number of Units trained.

If you have a lot of free serfs, you can push the "backspace" button in your browser after training a unit, and you're right at the training screen again. Makes starting training a lot faster.

OK, so i made it. Finally! Argh!

I also play on another server and don't want to go through this again, if possible. Training units is easy, i just hit the backspace key after starting training, and that goes very fast.
For dismissing units, i click "open in background tab" on the dismiss link in unit screen, then arrow, and repeat. Then i go past all open tabs, dismiss and close.

Does anybody know a faster/easier way? Thanks!
